Frequently Asked Question about Membership

Who is eligible to join GMCANA?

Any one is eligible to join the Guntur Medical College Alumni Association. While, only alumni of Guntur Medical College can join as life members, anyone interested in supporting GMC/GGH can join as an honorary member.

What types of memberships are offered?

Our standard membership is a life membership, but we also offer free membership to alumni in training. See our membership section for more information.

How can I change my address or other information?

If you have any updates, ranging from an address change to a new e-mail address, help us keep your alumni record current by completing change of address form.

How do I get copies of my transcripts from GMC?

You need to contact our Transcripts Coordinator with details like the year you joined and the year you graduated. You will be charged a small fee to cover the processing of your documents. See the transcripts under Services.

Do we have an online alumni directory? How do I connect with other alumni and old friends, where do I start?

Yes, we have a directory and there are several ways to connect with other alumni. The online alumni directory is a searchable database. Any alumnus can find his or her own profile and update it. If you are not a member, you can still register, provide your information, and receive your username and password to access the directory.

Who has the access to the online directory?

The directory is password protected, so only GMCANA alumni can have access to it.

Why should I help GMC?

The satisfaction of "giving" to our Alma Mater, a place that gave us our education, cannot be put in words. Helping GMC is not just giving money. It is also helping modernize medical education and organize CME with visiting GMCANA members and other visiting Professors.

What are the criteria for selecting projects at GMC/GGH?

Degree of need, level of interest and commitment, feasibility of project and of course, extent of support from GMCANA members. No cash is donated. For example, the 500mA X-Ray machine is bought by us in India brand new and is now used for more than 50 studies a day.

Why can I not choose my own project?

There is absolutely no reason not to!! But it would help in two ways to use GMCANA:

  1. Tax Deductibility.
  2. Keeping GMCANA informed would help us coordinate the other projects. We could also give you input (based on our experiences) that would possibly help you in the execution

Are my membership dues and any gift to GMCAMNA tax deductible?

Yes. Through GMCANA, a tax-exempt organization under federal Internal Revenue Service Code Section 501© (3), your gift to GMCANA is tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. Please consult your tax specialist for details on your donation.
